June 23 2025 The Garden City Wind defeated the North Platte 80s 6-5 at Bill Wood Field. Garden City finished with 11 hits and scored four runs in the eighth inning to take the lead before adding an insurance run in the ninth. North Platte collected 10 hits and committed four errors in the loss.
North Platte scored once in each of the first three innings to build a 3-0 advantage. Garden City got on the board with one run in the fifth, then turned the game in the eighth with a four-run rally. North Platte answered with two runs in the ninth, but Garden City held on for the victory.
Coby Tweten led North Platte with two hits and three RBI, while
Sean Bennett added two hits and scored once.
Caleb Copeland and
Rico Riley each scored twice, and
Ryan Lutinski contributed a double. For Garden City,
Drew Woodley and
Jason Rooks collected two hits apiece.
Kaleb Scull went 1-for-1 with an RBI, and
Jacob Talamante,
Dominic Enbody and
Secundino Morales also drove in runs.
Cutter Smith started for Garden City and allowed three earned runs on eight hits with five strikeouts in six innings.
Ritter Steinmann earned the win with a scoreless inning,
Grant Garza added a scoreless inning, and
Lance Koch recorded the save after the final inning. North Platte starter
Joe Barrons allowed one earned run on five hits in six innings with three strikeouts, while
Eddie Kafton was charged with the loss after allowing four runs in one inning.
